"Zambia's extraordinary headwaters conservancy."
The Zambezi River begins here. One of Africa's great rivers — 2,574 kilometres, eight countries, more than 40 million people dependent on its waters — starts as a seep through ancient Kalahari sands in Northwestern Province, Zambia, near Kalene Hill. Zambezi Nsulu Conservancy was established to protect this origin landscape: 60,000 acres of private conservation ground sitting directly within the Zambezi headwaters system, where the West Lunga River gathers and flows south through the Kabompo into the upper Zambezi. The cryptosepalum dry evergreen forests within the conservancy are among the rarest woodland types in Africa — an internationally recognised carbon sink ecoregion. This is a landscape of genuine continental ecological significance, and it is protected through a conservation model in which carefully managed, strictly limited safari hunting funds everything that keeps it that way. Epic Safaris is honoured to offer five hunt packages per season on this conservancy — no exceptions.

The species combination at Zambezi Nsulu is exceptional and, in several cases, nearly impossible to find elsewhere. Sitatunga — among the most elusive antelopes on the continent — are pursued in cryptosepalum forest and papyrus swamp habitat that few hunters will ever walk. Black lechwe, present in very few remaining huntable populations in Zambia, inhabit the seasonally flooded grasslands of the conservancy. World class sable range across open miombo woodland. Cape buffalo are tracked on fair chase on private ground. Roan, Livingstone eland, greater kudu, Defassa waterbuck, Lichtenstein's hartebeest, blue wildebeest, Burchell's zebra, puku, reedbuck, oribi, harnessed bushbuck, blue duiker, Eastern Angolan duiker, and warthog round out one of the most complete and genuinely wild species lists available anywhere in Northwestern Zambia. Seasonal tigerfishing on the West Lunga River peaks in September and October.

Five hunts per season — no exceptions. That limit is not a marketing position. It is the foundation of a conservation model in which all hunting revenues are reinvested directly into anti-poaching operations, wildlife management, species reintroduction, and community programs on the conservancy. The operation is conducted under full DNPW licensing and in compliance with all applicable Zambian wildlife regulations. Hunters who book here are not simply gaining access to good game country. They are participating directly in the protection of one of the most ecologically significant private landscapes in Zambia.
